Our Parish Religious Education Program (P.R.E.P.) is available to parish students who are attending non-Catholic schools and are in grades K – 9. It is an opportunity for them to enhance their knowledge of Scripture and help them prepare to receive the Sacraments of Penance, Eucharist and, in grade 9, Confirmation.

Classes meet on Sunday Mornings from 10:00 AM to 10:55 AM in the school. We invite parents to attend either 9:00 am or 11:00 am Mass with their children.  While classes are in session, we will have fellowship for parents and clergy at Kellaghan Hall.

CALENDAR 2023-2024

First and Second Grade Classes are designed for students who are preparing to receive their First Holy Communion. This is a two-year program that all students must attend in order to receive the Sacraments of Penance and Eucharist. In addition to the textbook studies, the students will also make visits to the church, learn the meaning of the various parts of the Mass, and grow to understand the importance of having Christ in their lives.

Grades 3 – 7 continue to develop the children’s knowledge of Christ’s Church. The students will study the Bible, liturgy, church traditions, saints, sacraments, and how to continue to serve the Lord in their daily lives.

Grades 8 and 9 prepare adolescents to bear witness to our faith in their beliefs, practices, and lifestyles through the gifts of the Holy Spirit. The preparation cycle for Confirmation is completed over two years and is intended to establish a greater understanding, responsibilities, and decision-making based on Christian values and discipleship. In addition to class attendance, students in the Confirmation program will be required to attend 3 sessions of Youth Group during the semester. The Youth Group session will be in lieu of the class that day. Click here to read more about our Confirmation Program.

It is important that parents, those directly responsible for their children’s religious welfare, take an active role in their child’s Catholic education by helping them with their schoolwork, taking them to Mass on Sunday, and making them aware of their Christian surroundings. By their example, adults can make a positive and meaningful influence in their child’s spiritual growth towards Jesus and His Church.
