P.R.E.P.

Our Parish Religious Education Program (P.R.E.P.) is available to parish students who are attending non-Catholic schools and are in grades 1 – 7. It is an opportunity for them to enhance their knowledge of Scripture and help them prepare to receive the Sacraments of Penance, Eucharist and, eventually, Confirmation.

Classes meet on Sunday Mornings from 11:15 AM to 12:15 PM in St. Vincent Ferrer School. Once it is available, a schedule of specific dates will be posted on this page.

First and Second Grade Classes are designed for students who are preparing to receive their First Holy Communion. This is a two-year program which all students must attend in order to receive the Sacraments of Penance and Eucharist. In addition to the textbook studies, the students will also make visits to the church, learn the meaning of the various parts of the Mass, and grow to understand the importance of having Christ in their lives.

Grades Three to Seven continue to develop the children’s knowledge of Christ’s Church. The students will study the bible, liturgy, church traditions, saints, sacraments and how to continue to serve the Lord daily in their lives.

It is important that parents, those directly responsible for their children’s religious welfare, take an active role in their child’s Catholic education by helping them with their schoolwork, taking them to Mass on Sunday and making them aware of their Christian surroundings. By their example, adults can make a positive and meaningful influence in their child’s spiritual growth towards Jesus and His Church.

Registration forms are available in the Parish Office or may be downloaded from this site (see below). Completed Registration Forms may be returned to the Parish Office in person or by mail.

Family Registration Form for Religious Education (One completed copy of this form is required regardless of the number of family members being registered.)

Student Registration for Religious Education (A completed copy of this form is required for each family member being registered.)

Continuing Students
For those students continuing in the P.R.E.P. program, please complete and submit the format with any updated information (address, e-mail, phone number, etc.). If there have been no changes, simply indicate “same” on the required form.

New Students
Along with the required forms, new students beginning in the fall must also supply a copy of their BIRTH CERTIFICATE AND BAPTISMAL CERTIFICATE. There is important information on each document which we need to record on our Sacramental Records.

All Students
Registrations cannot be accepted and will not be processed without the necessary documents. Please fill out the registration forms with legal full names and accurate information, especially current home addresses and home and cell phone numbers. We hope this does not cause too much inconvenience; it will assure that your child’s records are correct.

Tuition costs remain at $75.00 per single student or $125.00 for multiple students of the same family. However, submission of required forms and the tuition payment prior to May 15, 2013 will result in a reduction of the single student cost to $65.00 and multiple student cost to $105.00. (The early registration process will streamline first classes in the fall and allow for an appropriate number of textbooks to be available for students.) The cost for Sacramental Year (2nd Grade/1st Communion ) remains at $125.00.
